Decorating with Rugs: Tips

Adding a rug to a room that lacks excitement solves the problem. But there are many other equally compelling reasons to use rugs in your decor.

1-Use rugs to define areas

A carpet defines or separates areas, dining room, hallway, living room... This is especially useful in studios, or large spaces that need definition.

2-Create Variety

Think that in a space where there are 2 carpets of the same size can give the feeling that this is split in two, so we can use different sizes of carpets to create a different sense of depth.

3-Create Harmony

When using more than one rug, it is best that the rugs complement each other in style. Otherwise, you could end up with a discordant or unpleasant effect. Too many "belligerent" patterns in a room will kill any sense of harmony.

4-Use them as the basis of the color scheme.

Use your rugs to set the foundation for your favorite color scheme. On the other hand, if rugs are the last thing we add, we can use them to soften or accent existing colors.

5-Controls the volume

If the upholstery, walls or wallpaper are excessively loaded, choosing a more neutral carpet can help us to compensate for this excess, just as if it is the opposite, carpets can be the ideal complement to give a more original and interesting touch to the space.

6-Create a Focal Point

Rugs can have a huge impact. To do this you can create contrast by painting your walls a shade that brings out one of the colors of your rug.

7-Play with Shapes

Don't assume that a rug has to be rectangular. Try to figure out what other shape would look better, in many occasions a circular or oval rug fits better with the rest of the elements.

8-Make sure you get the right size
