Differentiate the living room from the dining room, give more importance to one area of another or give more depth to a bedroom, are some of the possibilities offered by carpets, but you should also be aware that a wrong choice of size can cause the opposite effect, therefore, it is advisable to follow a series of practical tips that we indicate below.
Carpets that experience high traffic require special maintenance to make sure they look good and last longer. Here are some tips on how to properly maintain high-traffic carpets:
Vacuum regularly: Vacuuming your carpet is the most effective way to keep it clean and free of dust and dirt. If your carpet is in a high-traffic area, it is recommended that you vacuum it at least once a week. If the carpet has a lot of traffic, it may need to be vacuumed more frequently.
Clean stains right away: If you spill something on your carpet, it's important to clean it up as soon as possible. The longer you wait to clean a stain, the harder it will be to remove. Use an appropriate spot cleaner for the type of carpet you have and follow the product manufacturer's instructions.
Deep clean regularly: Although regular vacuuming helps keep the carpet clean, it is recommended that you do a deep cleaning at least once a year. You can do this yourself with a carpet cleaning machine or hire a professional. This helps remove deep dirt and stains that vacuuming can't reach.
Place entrance mats: Place entrance mats at main entrances to prevent dirt and dust from entering the house and getting on the carpet. You can also ask visitors to remove their shoes when entering to reduce the amount of dirt that enters the house.
Rotate the carpet: If possible, rotate the carpet every six months to prevent high traffic areas from wearing faster than other areas. This helps ensure that the carpet wears more evenly and lasts longer.
With these tips, you'll be able to properly maintain high-traffic carpets to ensure they look great and last longer.

How to vacuum my carpet or rugs without damaging them
If your carpet has started to fray, fuzz, tear or deteriorate, you may not realize that the culprit could be your vacuum cleaner. The features of many leading brands of vacuum cleaners may be unsuitable for certain types of carpet if not used correctly. High-end vacuum cleaners with high suction power and robotic vacuums can be particularly problematic. Some models of these new vacuums often do not allow adjustments for different types of carpets. These vacuums are best avoided.
If you already have a vacuum cleaner that you like, there are three key things to consider to make sure it's right for your carpet or rug
Suction Power
Although powerful suction may seem like an advantage, it can be detrimental to certain carpets. For high pile and soft or delicate carpets, avoid vacuum cleaners with concentrated suction. This type of suction can not only damage the carpet, but can also make it difficult for the vacuum to move over the surface, causing friction on the surface.
To check suction power, look for terms such as "concentrated suction" or "sealed" in the vacuum specifications that measure airflow power. Most vacuums have a CFM between 50 and 100, although some can range from 45 to 200 CFM.
Vacuum Height Adjustment
The ability to adjust the height of the vacuum cleaner is crucial. This feature allows the vacuum to work well or not on various types of carpets. If the vacuum is too high, it will not be able to suck up the deepest dirt. If it is too low, the brushes can damage the surface of the carpet, making it look worn.
Rugs, depending on their height or the type of fiber they are made of, require different height settings. High pile carpets and soft or more delicate carpets usually require the highest height setting. . If you are in doubt about the correct setting, test in an inconspicuous area and check the result.
The rotating brush of the vacuum cleaner
Although it is sometimes advisable to use a vacuum cleaner with a rotating brush, make sure you are doing it correctly. If the bar is too high or too low, adjust it as needed. Before using the vacuum, check the rotating brush to make sure there are no burrs or nicks that could damage the carpet.
For loop carpets, braids or carpets with a construction that can lead to snagging, you may even need to disable the rotating brush and use it in suction-only mode. If you are in doubt about the correct setting, try it in an inconspicuous area and check the result.
Conclusion
Definitely, choosing the right vacuum cleaner is essential to keep your carpet or rug in perfect condition. Keep in mind the recommendations on height adjustment, suction power and use of the rotating brush to extend their life.
We are increasingly aware of what we breathe inside our homes. It is not enough for a space to look good: it also has to feel good. In this context, environmentally labeled carpets have become a silent guarantee of quality and well-being, a way of decorating while also taking care of the health of the home.
The French environmental label "Émissions dans l'air intérieur" is a certification that classifies building materials and furniture products according to the substances they emit into indoor air. It evaluates the so-called VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), as well as other substances such as formaldehyde, toluene or xylenes.
The result is expressed with a simple scale:
A+ indicates near-zero emissions.
A and B indicate low or moderate levels.
C is reserved for products with tolerable, but less recommended, emissions.
In France, products that do not comply with the established limits cannot even be marketed.
We spend almost 90% of our time indoors. If the materials around us emit chemical compounds, that air ends up affecting our health without us noticing it. Carpets, rugs and textile coverings are large surfaces that can have a major impact on air quality, especially in homes, hotels, offices or poorly ventilated spaces.
For this reason, more and more architecture and interior design professionals are looking for environmentally certified materials, not only for sustainability, but also for real comfort: less odors, less irritation, more well-being.
At KP we have been working for years with this purpose in mind: to market custom-made carpets and rugs that combine design, durability and respect for the environment. We are committed to high quality materials, free of harmful emissions, which guarantee a cleaner and healthier indoor environment.
When a carpet has an A+ environmental label, it means it has virtually no impact on air quality. This translates into safer spaces, especially in homes with children, pets or people sensitive to allergies.
In addition, aesthetic value is not at odds with sustainability. Our collections maintain the natural look and bespoke customization that KP is known for, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that each piece contributes to a healthier environment.
Improve indoor air quality.
Reduce odors and irritants.
They comply with the most demanding European standards.
They maintain the same level of design and customization as any KP custom carpet.
They add value to contract or residential projects that prioritize sustainability.
When looking for a responsible carpet or rug, check the technical data sheet or the packaging: the A+ label is the most reliable indicator. Its presence ensures that the product has passed tests under ISO 16000 standards, and that its emissions are below the limits set by French and European legislation.
Environmentally labeled carpets represent more than just a trend. They are a statement of intent: choosing products that care for the air we breathe. At KP, we believe that the beauty of a carpet is not only in its design, but also in what it brings to the environment.
Because creating comfortable, elegant and healthy spaces should not be an option, but the norm.
